How to Make the BEST Southern Tomato Gravy and Biscuits - Old Fashioned ...

Ingredients

  • 4 slices - Bacon
  • 2 TBS - Bacon grease
  • 1 Cup - Vidalia Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp - Butter
  • 2 TBS - AP Flour
  • 15 oz - Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 Cup - Chicken Broth 
  • 1 TBS - Tomato Paste
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - Thyme (optional)
  • 1/4 Cup - Whole Milk or Heavy Cream
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
Directions
  • Fry bacon until crisp in a large skillet.
  • Remove bacon and all but 2 TBS of the bacon fat.
  • Add diced onion and sauté until translucent
  • Add butter and flour and continue to cook until the flour is absorbed 
  • Add remaining ingredients except milk and bring to a light boil
  • Continue to simmer until the tomato gravy has thickened.
  • Once thickened add milk and crumbled bacon.
  • Serve over biscuits.
